Meeting called to order at 6:05 PM
1. Rhinos/RDYSL partnership proposal (Pat Ercoli and Rich Randall)
Vision: To create an environment for players to reach the pinnacle of their ability through a foundation of player development as administered by a professional coaching staff.
Mission: Making exceptional soccer opportunities available to aspiring players by providing lifelong lessons in sportsmanship and self -discipline through quality leadership and coaching.
Goal: To align the most credible youth soccer organization in our area (RDYSL) with a successful professional soccer organization (Rhinos). To ensure every child in RDYSL has an equal opportunity to excel to the highest level, maintain higher standards, offer new opportunities for top-tier players, give every player the opportunity to see each Rhinos game of the season, aspire to achieve that level of soccer.
2. Review Proposed alcohol/tobacco stance-carryover from last month
Suggested preamble in the 2012 rules: All participants (defined as coaches, players, spectators, and referees) in any RDYSL match will abide by the Code of Conduct defined by the Site. Any violations of a facilities rule will be brought to a law enforcement agency or the RDYSL board whichever is appropriate.
3. Review/approve roster size variance policy
RDYSL will honor roster size variances granted by New York State West under their Rule 1105. State Variances, which states:
“As provided by US Youth Soccer Rule 105, NYSYWSA may permit variances in Rule 1104 and 2205 of this policy in the best interest of developing the sport with the jurisdiction of the State Association. Those variances do not apply to any NYSWYSA State Cup competitions. “
Any RDYSL team that wants a roster size variance for the 2011 season must send an email with their request to the New York West president (email@example.com), Rochester District Commissioner (firstname.lastname@example.org), and RDYSL president (email@example.com). The email must specify the name of the club, age, gender and coach of the requesting team, and the rationale for the request (including number of players). All such requests must conform to the following guidelines in order to be considered:
Ages U8, U9, and U10 are the only age groups eligible.
A team may add a maximum of two players above the roster size in the RDYSL Rules.
Rationale for the request must be based on player development and lack of alternatives if the request is not granted (e.g. no other age-appropriate team, player will be cut, etc.). The more detail provided, the better New York State West and RDYSL are able to understand your situation.
If the variance request is granted, the team must still follow all other RDYSL rules. These include use of the proper number of players in league games (and appropriate documentation on the game report) and the expectation that all players on the team are guaranteed at least 50% playing time.
4. Appeal process—feedback from New York West
NY West recommended RDYSL hold an actual hearing for every appeal.
5. Referee assigner bill
Need to connect with referee unit on why there are so many assigning fees.
Suggestion was made for bags instead of shirts for the board. Decision: No bags
