2016 Rochester District Youth Soccer League Announces Club Award Winners

Rochester District Youth Soccer League is proud to announce the winners of its annual club awards.  These awards were created to recognize clubs in good standings and controlling the behavior of their club.

History

The 550 plus teams and 8,500 plus players in local travel soccer clubs were given incentives that started in the 2009 season to eliminate the behaviors that are not intended to be a part of the game.  Parents and guardians were required to sign a new minimum standard “Zero Tolerance Policy” document that specified their behavior expectations on the sidelines.  Finally, the clubs had an opportunity to obtain a partial refund of the fees they paid to RDYSL if the teams in their club achieved pre-specified levels of conduct.

Clubs could qualify for one of two levels of award:

Leadership Club Award:

Awarded to clubs with no coach/staff/spectator ejections and minimal coach/staff/spectator minor offenses, no red and a minimal number of yellow cards for loss of player control, and below the median for league-imposed fines

Model Club Award

Awarded to clubs with no coach/staff/spectator ejections or minor offenses, no red and a minimal number of yellow cards for loss of player control, and in the lower third of clubs for league-imposed fines
